Journal Submissions
The Quorus journal is a biannual, interdisciplinary literary journal that bridges the gap between overly stringent, subscription-based, scholarly journals and mere opinion columns and blogs. Articles should be between 4,000-10,000 words, and of the quality expected at conferences. Unlike many pseudo-scientific journals, we do NOT expect your work to give the illusion of novelty, and authors do not bear the responsibility of “furthering the academic discourse.” While we absolutely welcome cutting-edge scholarship, we also make plenty of room for papers that are instructive for a wider, non-specialized audience. Responses to articles in previous volumes are welcome. All journal articles will be single-blind peer reviewed.

Each volume of the journal will also include several of the best poems and visual artworks submitted to The Quorus in the months between publication. All artworks submitted to the online arm of The Quorus will be considered for publication in the biannual journal.

  • All journal submissions must be 12pt font, single-spaced, and between 4,000-10,000 words.
  • Use Chicago style citations (footnotes with abbreviated citations are allowed).
  • Attach a cover page with the author’s name, contact information, abstract [limit 250 words], and a total word count for your submission. Also include a brief biography of the author [limit 100 words].
  • Anonymize the body of the paper by removing any identifying information (not counting the cover page).

Online Article/Essay/Media Review Submissions
The Quorus website will host vetted and edited articles between 2,000-4,000 words on a variety of topics. Essays can cover politics, current events, entertainment, theology, social justice, psychology, sociology, the paranormal, or any other topic that our readers and/or editorial board may find fascinating.

All submissions must be well-written, thoughtful and fully developed to be considered for publication. Submissions for articles published on The Quorus website should be of high quality. While these articles are not required to be scholarly, they must meet a fairly high editorial standard. This is not a mere blog, but a short-form, online publication. If the editorial staff feel that your submission would better fit on our Patheos blog, we will invite you to publish it there.

  • All online article/essay submissions must be 12pt font, single-spaced, and between 2,000-4,000 words.
  • Use Chicago style citations (footnotes with abbreviated citations are allowed).
  • Attach a cover page with the author’s name, contact information, abstract [limit 250 words], and a total word count for your submission. Also include a brief biography of the author [limit 100 words].
  • Submissions do not need to be anonymous. The editorial board will most often act as the reviewers.

Creative Writing Submissions
Poetry, literary sketches, and short stories in any genre will be considered. Typically, short stories should be limited to 2,000 words, though longer submissions may be considered. Creative writing submissions will be vetted, and their publication will be up to the aesthetic judgment of the editorial board. Pieces submitted should be well-crafted, thoughtful, and fully developed. Multi-part works will be considered, but self-contained pieces are preferred.

  • Attach a cover page with the artist’s name, contact information, and a brief description of the artwork and its meaning (if it has one) [limit 250 words]. Also include a brief biography of the author [limit 100 words].
  • No erotica will be accepted.
  • No AI generated texts will be accepted.

Visual Arts Submissions
Photography, painting, film and all other kinds of visual arts are welcome on Quorus. We will, several times per year, put out a call for visual artworks on a specific theme, and accepted artworks will be displayed on The Quorus website as a virtual exhibit.

  • Attach a cover page with the artist’s name, contact information, and a brief description of the artwork and its meaning (if it has one) [limit 250 words]. Also include a brief biography of the author [limit 100 words].
  • No pornographic images will be accepted.
  • At this time, no A.I. generated artwork will be accepted unless specifically stated otherwise.
